Dancer 2 of the Month May 2019

Hi! My name is Shana Adcock and I am 18 years old. I am in 12th grade and I go to Nebo Crossing Academy. I have been dancing for 15 years, so this is sadly my last year. I have taken pointe ballet, lyrical/contemporary, hip hop, tap, and jazz. Dance has been such an amazing part of my life and I could not thank my family and my teachers enough for it.

It is like a filter for anything bad that is going on in my life, and it is just a great way to finish out my day. I am sad that I have to leave, but I am forever grateful for what dance has brought me. I want to thank my parents for getting me into dance because I never would have had these memories. I want to thank every single teacher that has ever taught me some sort of dance, because you are the people that have helped me to be happier and taught me how to do everything and perform well. Thank you to everyone at this school for making my 15 years so fantastic!

Dancer of the Year

My name is Sydney Young. I am 16 years old and a rising senior at MHS. I have been taking dance at Miss Jacie’s School of Dance for 12 years now. I take baton, tap and jazz. I am so appreciative of this honor to be selected for Dancer of the Year. I love being Miss Kristi’s helper and I am so thankful for both her and Miss Jacie for the opportunity. I love working with the younger baton classes. Every one of the girls are so sweet and thoughtful. They made my first year as Kristi’s assistant fantastic and fun. I was one of the lucky few who got to go to the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and look forward to another chance to participate in 2020 with my dance squad. I had such an awesome time the first time around and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I am usually quiet and reserved, but through dance I can express my true self. I am so grateful for my friends and family because without them I wouldn’t be the confident young lady I am today. As for my future, my plans include college and if fortunate, the opportunity to continue teaching baton on the side. One of my passions in the future is to write children’s books.
